Engineering recruitment, reframed

See beyond
the CV.

CapaLens helps manufacturing businesses understand the real capability inside their engineering team, identify the gap behind the vacancy, and assess candidates against what the operation actually needs.

Initial pilot focused on permanent maintenance and engineering hires.

The problem

A job description only tells part of the story.

Two engineers can hold the same title and bring very different capability. CapaLens starts with the team and the operation, not a keyword match.

◎
01 / Team

What can your shift already do well?

We establish where capability is strong, where coverage is thin and where the team is dependent on one individual.

◉
02 / Gap

What does this hire need to add?

We turn the vacancy into a Skills-Gap Hiring Brief with the capabilities that matter most to your operation.

▤
03 / Evidence

Can the candidate demonstrate it?

Structured technical scenarios, follow-up probes and real-world examples provide evidence beyond the CV.

↗
04 / Decision

See the capability. Make the right hire.

You receive a concise capability report showing demonstrated level, evidence confidence and the gaps that remain.

The CapaLens method

From vacancy to evidence-based shortlist.

A focused process built around the technical reality of the engineering team.

◎
01

Understand the team

Review the shift, equipment, strengths, dependencies and operational pressures.

◉
02

Identify the gap

Agree the capability the new hire genuinely needs to contribute.

⌕
03

Search with intent

Source engineers against the agreed capability profile, not just the job title.

▤
04

Assess the evidence

Use structured technical assessment to establish demonstrated capability and confidence.

◌
05

Shortlist clearly

Present a focused shortlist with a concise capability report for each candidate.

What you receive

More useful than “good fit”.

CapaLens does not reduce an engineer to an arbitrary percentage. We compare demonstrated capability against the requirement you agreed at the start.

Where evidence is incomplete, the report says so. Where a development gap remains, you can see it before the final interview—not after the hire.

Why CapaLens exists

Engineering context before recruitment theatre.

CapaLens was founded by Daniel Abley after nearly two decades in engineering—from RAF avionics to manufacturing maintenance leadership and responsibility for multi-shift engineering teams.

The idea came from a recurring hiring problem: a CV can look right and still fail to solve the capability gap inside the team. CapaLens is designed around the question a maintenance leader actually needs answered: what will this person add to my shift?

Engineering-ledTechnical context shapes the process.
Evidence-ledClaims are probed, not simply repeated.
Manager-focusedClear outputs built for hiring decisions.
For engineers

Your capability deserves more than a keyword match.

Maintenance, controls, reliability and engineering professionals can register with CapaLens and be considered for opportunities based on what they can actually contribute.
